Prayers and prayer requests

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear Larry,

I have a friend who occasionally sends me prayers and/or prayer poems.
This one is nice:

Heartprints

Whatever our hands touch-
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture
On doorknobs, dishes, books.
There's no escape.
As we touch we leave our identity.

Oh God, wherever I go today
Help me leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.

Heartprints of kindness
And genuine concern.
May my heart touch a lonely neighbor?
Or a runaway daughter
Or an anxious mother
Or perhaps an aged grandfather.

Lord, send me out today
To leave heartprints.
And if someone should say,
"I felt your touch,"
May that one sense YOUR LOVE?
Touching through ME.

I'd also like to give you an update on my situation.

The permanent job situation has not changed: I am still looking for work.
But I do have two sources of encouragement:

1. The state of New Hampshire has paid for additional technical training
for me while I am job hunting. I have already attended a one week course
in Java programming, which helps me improve one skill. In addition to that,
they have granted me online training for up to a year, which will augment
the Java programming course and give me additional, up to date skills in
programming and Web development. This ia a great encouragement to me, and a
good use of my time as I seek to improve my working skills.

2. I have been given the opportunity to co-author an article for a major
technical publication. I am hoping that I will obtain income from this
opportunity and additional exposure at a time that is much needed.

On the family front, Tom, my brother-in-law, will have to undergo additional
chemo treatments, then sometime near the Christmas holiday season, he will
have to have another bone marrow test to see if the treatments have been
effective in treating his leukemia. Meanwhile, Tom remains out of work
indefinitely. His family needs our prayers. We pray for Tom's safety, for
sources of income to sustain them, and for his spiritual renewal and for
his wife, Jill's salvation.

Virtually all of my wife's side of the family has health problems. Her
mother's mother (my wife's grandmother), 77, has cancer. MY mother in law
has a variety of nagging illnesses herself, and has battled on and off with
a form of cancer herself. My wife's father and step mother also battle with
a variety of nagging illnesses and limited finances.

When I look just within my own extended family, I'm actually thankful for
what we have, much more than what we lack or what we desire. We all need
prayer. I eagerly pray for all these needs, but also for the needs of
others, who desperately need God's love. I'm praying for many people today.

Your Brother in Christ,
Brian
