Tell them "It's not about you and what you like, it's all about Jesus",
course you may not be leading worship very long after that, but the truth
hurts sometimes. I've been reading Matt Redman's book "The Heart of Worship"
a very good read. We all definitely get too hung up on music and style in
worship. I'm finding I can worship to traditional hymns much better now. I
grew up in Churches with only hymns (for 36 years). Now that I go to a
Church with a blended service, the hymns are special to me now because of
their spiritual content. That doesn't mean I don't want to do them in a
modern musical style when I can 🙂 see what I mean!
