Re: {distance} how far do you have to go to church?

About 6 miles. However, my office building is next door to the church, which
is handy. I end up having lunch lots with guys from the staff. Handy when I
don't understand a point in the sermon, which happens often when your pastor
is also a Ph.D Systematic Theology dude!!

Long distances don't bother me. My dad is wildlife biologist and refuge
manager for the US Fish & Wildlife Service, so I grew up on wildlife refuges
far from town. When at the Aransas NWR in south Texas, we drove 45 miles one
way to Victoria to attend the nearest Nazarene church. We would have settled
for any Wesleyan theology based church, but there weren't any either. We did
go to a tiny Southern Baptist church for awhile as it was 14 miles away.
Usually though, we would drive and spend the afternoon eating lunch and
hanging out in Victoria until Sunday evening church.

Later we lived in western Oklahoma, and it was a 30 mile drive to the
nearest church in Elk City. When in high school, my dad took an
administrative job in Albuquerque regional office, the first time we lived
in a city. It was wild to only be 10 minutes from church. Took some
adjusting going from a 9th grade class of 14 to a class of over 800 in
Albuquerque.
