Re: [GEAR] Looking for a bigger soundboard

Robert,

AVOID like the plague the Mackie 40's or 56's - they quit making them for
a reason - they stink! There was a problem in those boards in their
design and they don't stand up to the Mackie name and quality. We have
two at church and I'd do almost anything to get rid of them.

I strongly recommend Yamaha, Soundcraft or Allen and Heath. You won't go
wrong with any of those. My first choice would be a Yamaha PM series,
but that's probably WAY out of your price range (5000 series is roughly
$75K, the 3500 series is about $45K, but the 3000 series is only about
$15K). The Allen and Heath GL3300M series is GREAT. The 40 channel runs
about $7K. The ML series is even better, but then again more expensive
by a couple of grand. The Soundcraft Ghost will be my next purchase, but
I don't know if they make that greater than 32 channels. I think that's
the best for the cash. I think Crest Audio makes a decent mixer too and
if you can find on, a Mixmaster Studio board is SWEET for the cash.

Call Sweetwater to see what they recommend. They're pretty honest.
