Direct Inject - used for converting the unbalanced output
from the bass into a balanced signal that can be sent
down a three wire XLR cable (which has advantages such
as being able to send the signal a much longer distance,
such as from the stage area to the mixer desk).

Try lots of approaches and see what works best for you
(and be aware that this may change over time). For
example, at present I'm learning most from transcribing
songs and also writing arrangements for other
instruments... but that might be harder if I hadn't learnt
more about scales and reading music in the past.

The piece of equipment is used to simulate the effect of
using a wide range of different amps and speakers using
digital technology.

Pass. I use Finale PrintMusic and mainly learn by doing,
with occasional reference to the manual to open up new
ideas.
