We got together and held a "home church" this evening. Everyone who played
an instrument, brought it. Cooks brought food, etc. had a great time. I
imagine we set Christianity back 2000 years. 🙂

Dana showed me one song he wrote and strummed it on his guitar. I stopped
him and said, "Try this." and played the standard Bo Diddley bass hook. We
had the words set to msuic in about 5 minutes and ready for presentaion to
our families. Sounded great.

Yes, we did Spirit In The Sky. Yes, everyone loved it. Most every one there
was a transplant for the western areas of the USA. Their music had a very
differant feel. Harder groove. ZZ-Top (SW) fee, and Jesus-freak 1960's
folk-rock. I felt more at home playing with them than at any local church.
They did several songs which were new to me. In fact, most I heard for the
first time as I was playing. We shared a couple of our originals.

Had a lesson on Ephesians, and I was asked to give my testimony. This lead
to a Q&A on Islam (which I have come to expect in all cases.) One person was
lead to confess to having a hatred of Muslims, repenting of this sin,
realizing it creates a wall between his heart and the heart of God. He
accepted Christ's love and teaching, thus verbally committing to a
Christ-like love for all. Their minds and hearts are open, yet their feet
are firmly planted on the foundation of scripture and the eyes ever
searching upward.

The elder, acting as pastor and drummer, spoke to me afterward about his
work with post traumatic stress, in his on life and with others. He told me
he heard something in my words which branded me as a "brother in arms". He
and I are about the same age, and share like experiences, in life, love,
war, and music. We talked. We talked. We prayed.

All of us are Outer Banks outsiders. If you live here long enough, you'll
find out some people just never fit in, because tourist money is the
Almighty God here and little else matters. Some consider our tourist trade
to be a mafia-like organization. Some of us just never get to feel like this
is home, and have visited enough local churches to start feeling unwelcome.

"Y'all just ain't from 'round here."

I have decided to join this new little "church-in-a-box". Now with 12 adult
and 10 juvenile members, and a 5 piece band. 2 guitars, bass, drums,
keyboards.

Please pray for us.
