That's the main use I make of my little Zoom multiFX - an
inline tuner with a clear display (and a mute function).
Like you and your guitarist, I'm constantly checking my
tuning - although it's fairly consistent, there are points
where it slips out a bit and I normally sort it out between
songs or even during the tune if there is a suitably slow
passage.

The only problem with my habit is that I forget that not
everyone else has the same approach - while a call for
tuning isn't vital for me, I still need to remember it for
others. Maybe I should start writing it onto my set lists
as a reminder? 😉
