Worship on Friday evening (first session of our church
weekend away) was interesting. Although I'd done a lot of
advance work preparing arrangements, we didn't have
time to run through anything before starting (with all the
setting up of our mobile gear and also co-ordinating
everything after dinner).

The first couple of songs were hard work - after the first
one, the guitarist tuned up, and after the second we
realised the keyboard also needed adjusting! It had one of
those little 'fine tuners' on the back that seem like a good
idea until you forget about them....

Even with those difficulties and plenty of other 'rough
edges' we had a great time of worship but I do kick
myself every time I forget to call for tuning up before
playing - even with my band, made of much more
experienced musicians, sometimes tuning gets forgotten
and you can hear the difference!

Therefore, I try to make "assume everybody is out of
tune" my watchword 😉
