Yes, I agree with this as well - sometimes I will sing and play percussion
at the same time, and when I play tambourine I really have to concentrate,
sometime to the point of having to stop singing just in order to lock up
with the snare drum. It gets even worse when I start to play accented
patterns which involve both shaking the tambourine as well as hitting it
against my other hand. It's tough!

The other percussion instrument which I find takes some skill is shaker -
because the balls inside do not start moving as soon as you move the shaker
there is some delay which you have to compensate for, in order to get the
'sizzle' right on the beat.
