DEAR FRIENDS, THE MARCH 12TH EDITION OF SERMON SEEDS WILL BE OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY EDITION.  GOD HAS BEEN GRACIOUS TO USE THESE OUTLINES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.  I PRAISE HIM!

I THINK THAT AN APPROPRIATE ANNIVERSARY ISSUE SHOULD INCLUDE “READERS’ FAVORITES” OF PAST OUTLINES THAT HAVE BEEN HELPFUL TO YOU. PLEASE REFLECT AND THEN SHARE WITH ME WHAT OUTLINE, OUTLINES, OR SERIES IT WAS THAT BLESSED YOU.  I WILL RERUN SOME OR ALL THEM THAT ARE MENTIONED.

I KNOW THAT THIS WILL TAKE TIME, BUT PLEASE CONSIDER THAT I’VE NEVER ASKED FOR MONEY FOR THESE SEEDS AND I HAVE NOT COPYRIGHTED THEM SO THAT THEY ARE FREE FOR YOU TO USE.  ASKING YOU FOR A COUPLE OF MOMENTS TO THINK AND SHARE REALLY IS A BARGAIN TO PAY FOR 10 YEARS OF OUTLINES! J

JUST HIT “REPLY” AND SEND YOUR RESPONSES BACK TO ME.  OR, YOU MAY USE MY REGULAR EMAIL ADDRESS, jpeters@alltel.net.  THANKS IN ADVANCE!

YOURS FOR THE MASTER,

PASTOR JACK PETERS

ISAIAH 41:8-13

THINGS TO REMEMBER

Isaiah gives us three important reminders here:

This passage was written to the nation Israel.  However as F. C. Jennings said, “What is true for Israel …is true of us each as in Christ.” F. C. Jennings, Studies in Isaiah, (Neptune, NJ, Loizeaux Brothers, 1935, 7th printing, 1974), p. 482

REMEMBER YOU ARE SPECIAL - Vss. 8-9

Sometimes it is hard for us to think of ourselves as special when we are having problems.  But it is helpful and healthy to remember that God considers us to be special.

Vs. 8 – Israel was God’s servant.  If you know Jesus as your Savior, you are God’s servant.

Paul, James, and Peter considered themselves servants of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:15-16 - For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: [16] As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Again, if you know Jesus as Savior, you are a disciple of Jesus Christ. Luke 9:23

If you are a disciple of God the Son, you are a servant of God.

Why is it significant in times of trouble to remember that you are God’s servant?  God takes care of His own! Romans 8:28

God is not like some irresponsible employees who don’t care about those who work for them.  God takes a special interest in each and every one of His servants.  He does that because every servant of God is also a Child of God. 1 John 3:1, Romans 8:16-17

Not only are we servants of God according to verse 8, but we are also chosen by God.  If you know Jesus Christ as Savior you are one of God’s chosen.  Jesus called believers “the elect”.  If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, trust Him for forgiveness of sin and eternal life and be one of the elect.

If you are elect you are certainly special! Ephesians 1:3-6

And as chosen of God I need not fear the future. John 10:27-31

And there’s more. Not only are we special because we are God’s servants and because we are God’s chosen, but we are special because we are of the seed of Abraham.

Abraham was God’s friend.  Because we are of Abraham’s seed, are also the friends of God.

You may be thinking, “I’m not Abraham’s seed, his descendent, because I’m not Jewish.”

Abraham was the “Father of faith.”

Those who have faith in Christ are of the seed of Abraham. We are Abraham’s spiritual descendents.

Galatians 3:7-9

Abraham was a friend of God.  As His seed, we are the friends of God!  But there’s more. Jesus called His disciples His friends. John 15:13-15

You might know what it is like to have a good friend who sticks by you no matter what. Proverbs 17:17, 18:24

Jesus is your friend. God is your friend if you know Jesus Christ as your Savior.  You have no better friend than Jesus!

Vs. 9 – This verse reminds me that we as a group of Christians are special.  God has called us from all lands, all colors and all races to be His children!

And He promise not to cast us away.  Hebrews 13:5-6

REMEMBER YOU ARE STRENGTHENED - Vs. 10

God says “fear thou not, for I am with thee”

You are not going anywhere without God today! Psalm 139:7-10

Not only are you not going anywhere without God today, but we need not be dismayed or panic because He is your God! Psalm 48:14

Notice the three promises we have in this verse.

·       “I WILL STRENGTHEN THEE”

God promises to give you strength for every situation.

And remember He is the God that does the impossible. Philippians 4:13, Luke 1:37

·       “I WILL HELP THEE”

Are you facing a financial crisis? God says, “I will help you.”

Are you facing a family crisis? God says, “I will help you.”

Are you facing a work crisis? God says, “I will help you.”

Are you facing a health crisis?  God says, “I will help you.”

How is it that sometimes it seems that God is not helping us?

Sometimes we are not asking for help. He wants us to ask.

Sometimes we ask for the wrong reasons. James 4:2-3

Sometimes we ask for help and for the right reasons but we lack faith. James 1:5-8

·       “I WILL UPHOLD THEE WITH THE RIGHT HAND OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESS”

What did you do for your children when they learned to walk?  You held them up!

Let me tell you my friend, in this life with all it’s problems and challenges, I’m still learning to walk!

I intend to let God hold me up!

Let’s not be like some children who squirm to get out of a parents helpful grasp.

Let’s willingly put up those hands, saying, “Father, please hold me up!”

REMEMBER YOU ARE SUPERIOR - Vss. 11-13

I’ll admit that the message of these verses is similar to the message of verse 10. But I take these verses as telling us “the victory is ours.”

Vs. 11 – Who is the greatest enemy you have?

Your biggest enemy is Satan and all his demons!

What is Satan trying to do to you?

He is trying to deceive you.

He is trying to devour you.

He is trying to destroy you.

He is trying to discourage you. 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 11:14-15

But Satan is a defeated foe! Revelation 20:10

Even now you are not obligated to serve Satan.

The victory is found in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Romans 6:10-14

Vs. 12 – And there will be a day when you enemies will all disappear.

Vs. 13 – In the meantime, we have nothing to fear.  God will help us, if we let Him, and give us victory through every situation.

I want to conclude with two great victory passages:  Romans 8:35-39 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [36] As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. [37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. [38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jude 1:24-25 - Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, [25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

So, this very encouraging passage in Isaiah challenges us to remember 3 things:

REMEMBER YOU ARE SPECIAL - Vss. 8-9

REMEMBER YOU ARE STRENGTHENED - Vs. 10

REMEMBER YOU ARE SUPERIOR - Vss. 11-13

This is an elaboration on a previously shared outline.

MESSAGES BEFORE E-MAIL

Today those of us with computers benefit from a phenomenon called "e-mail", or electronic mail.  Through it, we can get lots of messages, especially if we are on mailing lists.

Before e-mail, there was "snail mail" and good, old fashioned, messenger service (Someone physically goes and delivers a message.)

In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, we find 3 messages delivered.

A MESSAGE FROM SATAN - HURT! - Vs. 7

A MESSAGE FROM PAUL - HELP! - Vs. 8

A MESSAGE FROM GOD - HOPE! - Vss. 9-10

PRAISE STATEMENTS

If you are a born again Christian, you should be able to make these statements of praise to God:

1.     YOU ARE MY HEAVEN!

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2 Corinthians 5:8-9 - We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. [9] Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

2.     YOU ARE MY HELP!

Psalm 121:1-2 - I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

3.     YOU ARE MY HOPE!

Romans 5:2-5 - By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. [3] And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; [4] And patience, experience; and experience, hope: [5] And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

1 John 3:1-3 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. [2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. [3] And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4.     YOU ARE MY HEALING!

Isaiah 52:5 - Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

Psalm 103:3-5 - Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; [5] Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

(NOTE – I BELIEVE THAT THE HEALING HERE IS THE HEALING OF SIN DISEASES.  GOD DOES HEAL IN ANSWER TO PRAYER, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT HEALING IS THE HEALING OF MY SOUL AND THE WASHING AWAY OF MY SINS!)

5.     YOU ARE MY HAPPINESS!

Psalm 146:5 - Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

Proverbs 16:20 - He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Nehemiah 8:10 - Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

6.     YOU ARE MY HOLINESS!

Leviticus 20:26 - And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

1 Peter 1:15-16 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Corinthians 1:30 - But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

(BECAUSE JESUS IS OUR SANCTIFICATION, HE IS OUR HOLINESS)

7.     YOU ARE MY HERO!

Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Philippians 2:10-11 - That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Revelation 5:12 - Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
