JOURNEY WITH GREATNESS

Genesis 12:1-13:4

Abraham was a great man. God made him great as the father of faith, the father of the nation Israel, and as the ancestor of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus.  Let us take a journey with this great man.

3 STEPS UP:

  1. To The Land Vss. 1,4,7,8

  2. To A Nation Vs. 2a

  3. To Blessing Vss. 2b-3

3 STEPS DOWN

  1. Fleeing Vs. 10

  2. Fearing Vss. 11-13

  3. Fabricating Falsehood Vss. 14-20

1 STEP BACK 13:1-4

Abraham went back to Bethel. Back to where he once was with God.                                                                                                                                                                                               (12:8)

Psalm 119:1-4

HAVE A GOOD DAY!

A good day is generally speaking a happy day!  Here are some ways to have a good day.

THE WONDER OF HAPPINESS

Vs. 1a - Blessed are the undefiled in the way,

We will be happy when we have been justified by faith and have peace with God. Romans 5:1

Remember the word “blessed” means “happy”.

THE WALK IN HIS WORD

Vs. 1b - … who walk in the law of the Lord.

Vs. 3 - They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

We will also have a good day when we saturate ourselves in the Word of God.

THE WORK OF OBEDIENCE

Vs. 2a – Blessed are they that keep his testimonies,

Vs. 4 - Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

It is also a good day when God is pleased with our obedience.

THE WHOLENESS OF HEART

Vs. 2b - …and that seek him with the whole heart.

A day totally committed to the Lord is a good day.

Ezekiel 37:15-28

IT’S COMING FOR ISRAEL

ONE NATION – Vss. 15-22

ONE KING – Vss. 23-25

ONE COVENANT – Vss. 26-28

************************************************************************************

Matthew 3:1-12

WHEN JOHN CAME

John’s Coming was:

A WAKEUP THAT WAS NEEDED – Vss. 1-2

A WORD THAT WAS FULFILLED – Vss. 3-4

A WORK THAT WAS FRUITFUL – Vss. 5-6

A WARNING THAT WAS DIRECT – Vss. 7-10

A WITNESS THAT WAS MESSIANIC – Vss. 11-12

John 4:4-30

SOUL WINNER

We know, that as Christians, it is our responsibility to witness or to be "soul winners."  See Psalm 107:2, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:15.

The greatest soul winner of all was our Lord Jesus Christ.  Not only did He win every soul that is saved through his death on the cross, but He was also effective in personal evangelism.  In this text we see the master soul winner at work. As Jesus dealt with the woman at the well, please note:

HE CAUGHT HER ATTENTION Vss. 4-9

While the disciples went for food, Jesus rested by a well.

The woman came for water at unusual time because she was probably an outcast because of her immoral behavior.

Jesus asked her for a drink of water. This was unusual because he was a Jew and she a Samaritans.  "For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans."

HE CREATED AN INTEREST Vss. 10-15

Although she didn't understand what Jesus was talking about, his offer of living water certainly got her attention.

HE CHALLENGED HER HEART Vss. 16-26

Concerning her past. Vss.16-19

Concerning worship. Vss. 20-24

Concerning His identity. Vss. 25-26

HE CAUSED RESULTS Vss. 27-30

Obviously, the woman believed.

She went to the village and called the man to come meet the one she was sure was the Messiah.

May we remember that it is our duty to witness, but it is always the Spirit of God who works when people believe. (John 16:8-11)

Galatians 1:1-5

GOD’S WELFARE SYSTEM

In the introductory verses to the Book of Galatians we see that God is concerned about the welfare of His own and that He will act in their behalf

GOD’S CALL ON A LIFE – Vs. 1

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

Paul was an Apostle because of the call of God in His life.  God has a plan for, that is, a call on your life as well. Ephesians 2:10

GOD’S COMPASSION ON THE CHURCH – Vs. 3

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

GOD’S CARE FOR SOULS – Vss. 4-5

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: [5] To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
