SERMON SEEDS FOR JULY 16, 2007

http://www.sermonseeds.org

************************************************************************************

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SERMON SEEDS – All of this week’s Sermon Seeds are first timers (being shared on Seeds for the first time) and brief.   The Lord challenged me to find an old notebook of outlines, many of which I haven’t used as Sermon Seeds.  Most of my outlines come from my devotions. These outlines are brief because I haven’t preached them yet.  If you do happen to use one of these outlines or any other outline of mine, I’d love to see your notes and how you developed the outline!  Just send them to jpeters@alltel.net.  Thanks! – Pastor Jack Peters, 724-548-2760

GOOD SOIL

The parable of “The Sower and the Soils” shows us exactly what “good soil” if for the reception of the seed, which, according to verse 11, is the Word of God.

GOOD SOIL IS DUG SOIL – Vs. 12 – The soil by the wayside was packed down and hard.  It had not been recently plowed.  The Holy Spirit was must dig deep in our hearts in order to make us receptive to the Word of God. See John 16:8-11

GOOD SOIL IS DEEP SOIL – Vs. 13 – Soil on the rock was actually on a ledge.  The Word of God had not gone down deep in the heart.

GOOD SOIL IS DISINFECTED SOIL – Vs 14 – Soil needs to have the weeds of “cares and riches and pleasures” removed.

GOOD SOIL IS DEPENDABLE SOIL – Vs. 15 – Dependable soil comes from “an honest and good heart”, keeping the Word, and bearing fruit.
