Your obedience is not the bedrock of your assurance. Given the remains of sin within us it can be profoundly difficult to give a clear measure of our own spiritual growth. In fact I have been known to argue that the better we get the worse we seem to ourselves. That is, as we grow in grace we grow in our capacity to see our own sin more deeply. Which the devil delights to use to discourage us. It is Christ’s obedience that secures for us our eternity.

The Burning Bush Devotional

Dear Friends,

As you know the Burning Bush Devotional has not been sent by email for some
time. We have been in the process of some major changes in our lives. I have
resigned as pastor as of the end of this year and am retiring from full-time
pastoral ministry, although God can always change my mind. One of the
reasons for this change is so that I will have more time to write. I am
hopeful that sometime in January of 2013 that I can begin once again to
write the devotional on a more regular basis.

We are in the midst of moving as Christmas approaches. We are not moving
far, but we have been in our current pastorate for 14 years living in a
church parsonage. With the change in employment comes a necessity to move
somewhere else. We are moving back to where I grew up at Canute, Oklahoma.
We are not sure of all that God has for us, and it has been a definite leap
of faith for us to make this change. We believe that God will provide more
opportunities for ministry to us in His time. It is an exciting time, as we
look forward to God moving in our lives.
