Being saved does involve the positive response of the human will. The person who is saved begins, at a point in time, to consciously and voluntarily assent and submit to (as well as delight in) God’s revealed truth where he formerly dissented to it in open rebellion or apathetic disinterest (which is also a form of rebellion). God grants regeneration to whom He pleases, thus freeing the will, which, until the point of regeneration, is enslaved to sin and opposed to God and truth. Once the will has been set free through regeneration, faith inevitably follows (cf. John 6:44-45). In this way it is rightly said that saving faith is a gift from God.

I am of the opinion that young people should plan a wedding within their means.  With our kids we just said, this is what we can afford, and if you want a bigger wedding than that, God bless you, you are adults, go earn it.  Well, not quite that blunt. 
 
But you are sweet, Marci, wanting to please the Lord and impoverishing yourselves to the breaking point.  Things are very expensive, and once the date is set it is hard to change anything.  Loving mothers always put themselves out for their kid's weddings.
 
When my oldest daughter got married the "other mother" promised to buy the wedding cake.  Shortly before the wedding I called to check that all was well and the lady making the cake said, "Oh, the cake was cancelled."  Surprise!  "Other mother" was in a tiff about something and that was her way of dealing with it.  Glad I called!  I'm glad that her son is not that kind of person.  "Other mother" is like that, but has many other good points, so I don't hold it against her.  I just laugh.  It could have been worse.  The just in time cake was beautiful.

    I am asking prayer about the upcoming wedding.  First and foremost that the entire thing will point to the Lord and bring Him glory.  Secondly that all the details will be attended to.  Thirdly that some of the items we have for sale (both online and locally) will sell to help offset expenses.  It seems that new twists in the plans abound and each one costs.  =)  Our budget is stretched to breaking.  We are trying to take the high road in some areas and keep the peace.  =)
