A junior high student one first prize at his science fair by
encoraging both students, teachers and judges to sign a petition demanding
strict control or total elimination of the chemical dihydrogen monoxide for
the following reasons

It can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
It is a major component in acid rain
It can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
Accidental inhalations can cause death
It contributes to erosion
It decreased the effectiveness of automobile brakes
It has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

Of the 50 people
43 supported the his proposition
6 were undecided
and only one knew that the chemical dihydrogen monoxide was better known by
its letters H20 or water
