Word for Today, Fri, 5 Apr 2002: Living Life God's Way

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,

I received this message the other day from my friend and prayer
partner, Betty. My friend Betty has been remembering me in prayer for
some time now, and she regularly prays for many other people as well.
Betty knows that I have needs, but she also knows that those needs are
best met in God's time.

I agree with Betty, and I agree with the writer of the message.

How about you? Do you always like things your own way (and now), or
are you trusting and patient, seeking God's best for you, even if that
means you have to wait?

Your Brother in Christ,
Brian

God can change our circumstances, but sometimes He waits for us to
show real desire for change as well as our faith in Him. Anne Graham

But this is what I commanded them saying, "Obey My voice, and I will
be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that
I have commanded you that it may be well with you. Jeremiah 7:23

We sometimes attempt to make God fit into a mold we have
designed. We may never miss a church service, and faithfully go
through the motions saying all the appropriate words and yet feel
as though something is still lacking spiritually. We serve God and
He is what He is, we cannot change Him as much as we may try. Have
we forgotten our place? How often do we fall on our face before
him broken, humbled and totally surrendered? What is so dear to
our hearts that we can't relinquish into His hands? We want God to
be Lord over our lives but we exclude Him from areas we don't want
to be touched or changed. If we want the blessings and the
promises we can't forget the sacrifice and obedience. We don't
create plans for our lives and then ask God to bless them, we seek
His plan and He will bless it. It is not religion and traditions
that make us what God wants but it is our intimate relationship
with Him and our willingness to surrender all to Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I don't question your management of my life. I
trust that you are taking me exactly where I need to go. I surrender
to you, and ask that you take this life and make it what you will. Let
it glorify you. Forgive me for attempting to make you fit my life
instead of surrendering it into your care. My life is yours to design
as you will. Amen Cheryl Curtis, DailyWord Email Devotions; 2/25/2002

We must move from asking God to take care of the
things that are breaking our hearts, to praying
about the things that are breaking HIS heart.
