Word for Today, Fri May 20 2005: Nothing Is Impossible With God
Dear friends,

Throughout scripture, whether the oldest or newest books in the
Bible, we read again and again about the ways of God. There are
many events recorded that, based on what we know in this modern
age, we have difficulty accepting and believing, yet every word
that comes out of the mouth of God is true, and the Word of God,
the Bible, is absolutely true.

While some stories in the Bible are absolutely literal and others
are figurative, when it comes to God, realize that God has no
limitations whatsoever. When we think something is too far
fetched, well, for us, it probably is. Yet with God, nothing at
all is impossible. God could take me this very moment to another
place, and He could do the same with you. God can turn around
circumstances in an instant.

Though we do not often see those kinds of things with our own
eyes, from time to time people report otherwise unbelievable
events. Every time we hear of someone being "healed", we call it
a miracle.

I want you to know that while God doesn't go around doing "hocus
pocus" magic tricks just to get our attention or entertain us,
God is capable of whatever He chooses. When it comes to God,
don't doubt anything, just believe.

At the same time, when someone tells you this or that, don't just
automatically accept it. The Bible clearly tells us to "test the
spirits" to see whether they are of God or a deception made to
look like God. The Evil One, Satan, the Devil, or one of his
demons, is a fallen angel of light. Though they are nowhere near
as powerful as God, they are, nevertheless, quite powerful and
quite capable of huge deception. Therefore, our best defense
against such things is to intimately know the Word of God, the
Bible, and thus, we come to know God Himself.

My prayer is that each of us will have an intimate, personal
relationship with God and that we will earnestly seek Him.

Yours in Christ,
Brian

The All-powerful God

"There is nothing too hard for You." --Jeremiah 32:17

Is God's power limited? Scripture tells us over and over that
God is omnipotent, which means all-powerful. Even when Job was in
pain and distress, he said to the Lord, " 'I know that You can do
all things. No plan of Yours can be thwarted' " (Job 42:2).

The Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed God's power: " 'Ah, Lord God!
Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great
power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You' "
(Jeremiah 32:17).

The Archangel Gabriel reassured Mary by saying, " 'With God
nothing will be impossible' " (Luke 1:37).

Now you see how silly it is when we say something like, "I have
tried everything, and now all I can do is pray." Now all you can
do is turn to the all-powerful God, the Creator of the universe,
who happens to love you a lot. What do you mean, that's all you
can do? That's the first thing you should do.

Before we do anything else, we should turn our troubles over to
God, because nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing is
impossible. Nothing is beyond His reach. Nothing is beyond His
ability.
