Word for Today: [Fwd: My Utmost For His Highest : "The Discipline Of Heeding"]

Dear friends,

Have you ever been in darkness, or perhaps are you currently in darkness, as far as where you are and where you are heading?  As Oswald Chambers indicates in today's Word for Today message, God sometimes places us into darkness to teach us to wait, to listen, to heed, and to follow our Lord.  Unfortunately, so many times in this life we are so caught up in the activities of the day that we are unable to see, here, or detect the Presence of God in any way, shape, or form.  We believe He is there, yet if pressed, we would find nothing.  Why is that?  I suggest it is because we have chosen to rely on our own ways and we are insensitive to the ways of God.

I know I need to slow down, be humbled, realize my need, and seek God, then wait for Him patiently - even in the dark.

Dear Lord, As you know, in this life it is far too easy for us to wander off.  No wonder You gave these words to the prophet Isaiah: "We all, like sheep, have gone astray.  Each of us has turned to his own way, and the Lord has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all".  I know what that means.  My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had to take upon Himself the burden of my sin and pay the ransom for it - with His own life!  I know that You planned this from the beginning, because even in the early chapters of Genesis I can read how Your plan was unfolding and how You already had the end in sight and the solution in place!  How wonderful You are, my Lord and my God!  I need to rely on You, not only in the darkness but in the light as well, and I know in my heart that You are the true Light.  May I remember, whether in darkness or in light that You are the One who is my source and You are the one that gives life meaning and purpose.  Thank you Jesus, for giving me the way.  Thank you for your love, and thank You, Father, for making it all possible.  Amen.

Yours in Christ,
--
