Sexuality in the context of heterosexual marriage is not only good, but exclusively good. Only heterosexual marriage relationships can show forth the complementary design of men and women. According to the apostle Paul, one of the purposes of marriage is to show forth the mystery of Christ and the church (Eph. 5:32). If marriage can be construed as a man and a man or a woman and a woman, what is left of the glorious mystery of Christ and the church? We are left with only Christ and Christ or church and church.

Word for Today, Mon, 1 Apr 2002: A Most Worthwhile Risk!

Dear friends,

Today, I read a message in my Inbox that read, "Help... if you
care..." It was a message about a person with Autism that wants
to trust and believe in Christ, but they have possible doubts. I
thought about it. Here is what I decided to write back:

"Here's my personal opinion on all of it. Trusting Jesus is a
matter of cultivating trust and then stepping out in faith. If
we have had little that we can actually trust in our lives, then
it becomes more difficult to place our faith in anything. If we
HAVE had something or someone in whom we can trust, it becomes
more believable that we can trust something or someone.

"Here's another twist, though, to stimulate thought:

"What if there has not been anything else that we can truly
trust? What about the many things that have SEEMED trustworthy,
and for a time, they produced pleasure, satisfaction, or
something else, but only for a time? Could it be that there is
ONE (and only ONE) thing that is really worthy of our complete
trust and adoration? What if that ONE is THE ONE who made us,
the Author, Creator, Sustainer, and Finisher of life itself?

"What if that One realized that each of us faces daily struggles,
trials, and temptations that are too much to bear on our own?
What if that One decided not to take away all of those struggles
(in this life) but to identify with us in those struggles and to
become a part of those struggles WITH US? What if that One came
and sacrificed everything that HE had rightful ownership to, just
to demonstrate His love for us?

"Well, I believe that is PRECISELY who Jesus Christ IS, and what
He has DONE for us, those who claim to be SAVED by His grace and
showered with His love.

"Therefore, I believe it is an EXCELLENT and MOST WORTHWHILE risk
to trust completely in Him and abandon every other thing in which
we have previously placed our trust!"

WORTHWHILE risk to trust completely in the Lord Jesus Christ as
YOUR PERSONAL Lord and Savior?
