Word for Today, Mon, 26 Nov 2001: Nation's Leaders Requesting Prayer

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,

I am encouraged when I receive messages from the Presidential
Prayer Team like this one. Just imagine, not long ago, some of
us feared our continued freedom to pray - at least in public
forums. But due to the events of recent months, any actions by
the ACLU and others to bar, discourage, or eliminate prayer have
been at least temporarily diminished - though I am sure that
organizations like the ACLU, Gay Rights Activists, and others
will continue to do all they can to continually cut down the
effectiveness of prayer in our midst.

Meanwhile, it is always our personal right to continue to pray.
We can certainly do so privately, which is always a good thing.
But when our nation's leaders get together to pray and to ask for
prayer, I think it is an all-important reminder to each of us of
the importance of prayer for us, not only as individuals, but
also as "One Nation, Under God, indivisible, with Liberty and
Justice for all".

I don't think it is right for us to expect or demand everyone
else to share in our passion for prayer, (though it is good for
us to pray for everyone, that many will come to know our God,
seek Him each day, and find meaning and purpose for their life).
But I do think it is right that we individually take the great
privilege and responsibility very soberly and seriously.

With that in mind, I forward you this prayer request from our
nation's Capital, and ask, once again, that you remember our
nation's leaders in your prayers.

Your Brother in Christ,
Brian

*** DECEMBER 4th TO BE "NATIONAL DAY OF RECONCILIATION" ***

On November 14, the House of Representatives and the United
States Senate passed an unprecedented concurrent resolution
establishing a "National Day of Reconciliation," to take place
Tuesday, December 4, 2001. On that day, our nation and elected
representatives will pause to seek God's blessings in prayers for
unity, forgiveness, reconciliation and charity.

We urge Presidential Prayer Team members to tell their friends
and colleagues, so that all of America will rightly honor this
important event in the history of our nation, along with both
houses of Congress.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR FRIENDS. FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT
THIS IMPORTANT DAY, WHICH IS LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY!
