Word for Today SPECIAL WEEKEND EDITION: Prayers and useful notes

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,

I've been getting lots of useful messages this week, so I think
I'll send you a WEEKEND EDITION that has a few of the things that
I think are useful.

Tina Rosario has been sending me great stuff all week long. She
just sent me a good message that is worth reading - directed at
fathers, but applicable to all of us. She also sent me the A to
Z's of life some time ago, which I saved. I'd like to share both
of them with you now.

After Tina's message, I've included a prayer update from the
Capital Prayer Focus, which includes a praise report on those
released from captivity.

What kind of relationship did you have with your father?

Were you close? Were you afraid of him? Did you even get
to spend time with him? Try to remember how it felt to be a
child -- and try to remember what you wanted from your
father. I'm asking you to do this because I want you to
think about the kind of father you are to your own kids.
Once you've thought about it -- take action. Be there for
your children and really listen to them. Show them and tell
them you love them. So one day, when they think about
their father, they'll look back with a smile.

Remember, your family first.

FORWARD THIS UPDATE ON CHRISTIAN HOSTAGES IN AFGHANISTAN
TO PRAYING FRIENDS

11/16/01

Dear Brian,

A few weeks ago we wrote asking you to pray for the eight
Christian aid workers who were being held in Afghanistan.

We are thrilled to report that the workers --including
Americans Heather Mercer and Dayna Curry--are free and in
Pakistan after being held captive in Afghanistan for three
months by the Taliban for preaching the Gospel.

This is an answer to prayer!

The detainees were rescued by opposition troops from a prison
in Ghazni, about 50 miles southwest of the capital, Kabul.

* * * * PRAYER REQUEST

First, Praise the Lord for their safe release! Pray for a
safe trip home and a smooth transition back to "normalcy."

* * * * CAPITOL HILL MINISTRY UPDATE

We continue to experience exciting ministry opportunities on
Capitol Hill. Just the other day, one of our Capitol Hill
Liaisons went to get tested for anthrax (she tested negative)
and struck up a conversation with a Capitol Hill police
officer. Soon, the officer was praying to receive Christ!

God is on the move in the nations capital, and we covet
your prayers! Please see the prayer points below.
