Word for Today, Tue, 05 June 2007: [Fwd: Your Burdens]

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,

I have not recently written an edition of Word for Today, but I happened to receive something in my Email bucket today that I hope will be a source of encouragement to you.

The Bible says, "28 Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, New Living Translation).

In 1 Peter 5:7, the New King James Version of the Bible says this: "7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

We carry an awful lot of unnecessary burdens, particularly the burden of sin in our lives.

The attached message is a dramatic story of a conversation between Jesus Christ and a person who was about to give up.  The story is not a real story necessarily, nor is it found in the Bible, but it could very well be you - or me - who is the character in the story.

Whenever we attempt to carry our own burdens, let's remember to leave them at the Cross, where Jesus Christ suffered and died, taking the guilt of the sin of the entire world upon Himself.

The only reason we carry burdens is because we have not fully surrendered them to Jesus Christ.

Won't you do that today?

While I am on the topic, do you know FOR CERTAIN that you have a home reserved for you in Heaven?

If you are not certain, write back to me and I can explain to you how you can be absolutely certain that there is, in fact, a home reserved for you in Heaven.  You cannot earn it, Christ bought it with His own blood.  What you can do is take the faith that He gives to you and believe on Him instead of on your own ways.  He is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Moreover, the Bible says that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, and when He returns, it will be to come to claim His bride - the church, those who trust, not in their own works and deeds (though we certainly should have good deeds - they are our crowns to place at His feet), but instead, we should trust in Him and in Him alone.

This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Good News!
