Hate speech is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as “public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation”.Wikipedia
Is it wrong to hate wrong? The definition above gives no latitude for a behavioral standard that leads to any expression against evil. Someone could claim that is assumed, but the words do not enable it.
What is “hate”?
- to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry.
- to feel intense dislike, or extreme aversion or hostility.
What does “evil” mean? Merriam-Webster Dictionary says it means “morally bad”. Morality is a behavioral standard that has become disassociated from the commands of God. People can, and have, redefined “morality” over time – but the commands of God do not change. Rather than water down what “evil” means, I believe evil is anything against God (including his commands and his creation).
No race is bad because all mankind is created by God. The genders of “man” and “woman” were created by God and are good according to Him.
Can certain religions be “evil”? Yes, because some religions are opposed to God.
Can certain sexual orientations be bad, or evil? Yes, because some sexual orientations are opposed to God’s commands about human behavior.
In short, the current definition of “hate speech” is a flawed concept that enables an anti-God agenda by attempting to squelch God’s commands about human behavior.
