How to start your day in a spiritual way
The word of God says if we walk in the Spirit, we will not carry out the evil desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). That means, if we live only to please God every day, we won’t carry out the evil desires of the flesh. If we walk in the Spirit, then we will live as Jesus lived, imitating God daily (Eph. 5:1; 2 Cor. 3:17).
Set aside at least 15 minutes to do a Bible study each morning. Take time for God and He will bless everything you put your hand to do. You are really honoring Him when you put Him first each day. Wouldn’t you agree? You must resist Satan when he tries to convince you that you don’t have time to study your Bible for God each day (James 4:7). When you resist Satan, you will crucify the flesh with its evil passions and desires (Gal. 5:16, 24; Rom. 8:13).
Ask the Lord to guide you through the day and to keep you busy in a spiritual way. Live to please only Him in your work and in your leisure. When you go to work, look for those who need to be cheered up and do what you can to help. Maybe you can bring some fresh rolls to work to share with others. Buy someone coffee if you have a chance. Compliment people when they make an effort to look nice for others, or just lend an ear to someone who has troubles. One of the main reasons people attempt suicide is that they feel nobody cares. The true disciple of Jesus Christ, living in a spiritual way, brightens the day of those around him who are in despair.
A true disciple of Jesus Christ will study God’s word each day in order to allow the Lord to speak to him. This is how you show yourself approved by God (2 Tim. 2:15). This is how you please Him and obey Him. You prove that you love God by putting Him first in your life (John 15:8).
You know the right thing to do (James 4:17). Now you must force yourself into God’s kingdom by disciplining yourself accordingly (Luke 16:16). This is how to start your day in a spiritual way.
