    what is the function of the Spirit in verse 5?

    3. Read Isaiah 59:20-21. Who is the Redeemer in verse 20 since the Holy
    Spirit came after the Redeemer, what is His purpose?

    4. Read Joel 2:28-32. Who will receive the Holy Spirit?  What will
    happen when the Spirit is poured out?  When will this outpouring  of the
    Spirit take place?

    SECTION IV  The Holy Spirit in Jesus
    1.  What role did the Holy Spirit play in the birth of Jesus?  (Matthew 1:
    18-20)

    2. In regard to the baptism of Jesus, what did the descent of the Holy
    Spirit mean to John.  In what form did the Holy Spirit rest upon Jesus?
    What significance does this have?  (see Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, Luke
    3:22 and John 1:32-33)

    3. Regarding the temptations of Jesus, what was the role of the Holy Spirit?
    (Matthew 4:1, Mark 1:12 and Luke 4:1)

    4.  Regarding the death of Jesus, what was the role of the Holy Spirit?
    (Hebrews 9:14)

    5. Regarding the resurrection of Jesus, what was the role of the Holy
    Spirit?  (Romans 1: 4)

    SECTION V  Being filled with the Holy Spirit
    1.  What is a prerequisite to being filled with the Spirit?  (John 7:37 and

    2. If our desire to be filled with the Spirit is genuinely sincere, what will
