Look Over In Canaan 47 LOOK OVER IN CANAAN BB-25-4A (Second in a series of three) FRUIT FROM THE PROMISED LAND (Numbers 13:20, 1-3, 17-25)
INTRODUCTION
- Twelve spies were sent out
- They were blessed men
- They were leaders of the congregation
- They were given an opportunity to witness of God’s power
- They were to bring fruit from the promised land (new)
- “SEE THE LAND, WHAT IT IS” (v.18)
- Fat or lean (provision of crops & food)
- One cluster of grapes took two men to carry
- Pomegranates & figs were everywhere
- Blessings and provisions are there for the taking
- Whether wood or not (used for heat & building)
- The staff that they bore the grapes on proved wood
- They could rest assured that God was telling the truth
- Heaven is “an exceeding good land”
- It too, has sufficient food for us
- The Lamb is the light thereof and we need no sun, heat
- Every need of the inhabitants will be supplied
II. “WHAT [ARE]… THE PEOPLE THAT DWELLETH THEREIN” (v. 18)
- Strong or weak, few or many
- They were giants of men
- They were on the land, in the mountains, & by the sea
- Good or bad, tents or strongholds
- The cities are walled, and very great
- The children of Anak are there
lll. “BE OF GOOD COURAGE AND BRING OF THE FRUIT OF THE LAND” (v. 20)
- The Church has been instructed to “see the land, and the people, of HEAVEN” (& show the fruit to others)
- What kind of fruit have you been showing the world?
CONCLUSION
- THE SPIES WERE TO BRING BACK FRUIT FROM THE PROMISED LAND
- They brougth back some good fruit and a bad testimony
- The result was that Israel was determined to return (14:4)
- Will sinners want to go to Heaven after seeing YOUR FRUIT?
- Let us show the good fruit from Heaven (Faith, hope & charity-love)
