You are currently viewing Please include the forgotten elderly in your Christmas plans

I remember George White as a fine Christian man with a beautiful smile, and a firm handshake. He lit up when I greeted him on Sundays at church. My own (favorite) grandfather had died suddenly a few year prior, and I suppose George reminded me of him.

I went to college and got married a few years later, and lost track of George. I didn’t realize he was still alive in an elderly care center when I moved out of state 10 years later. He went to be with Jesus 2 years after that.

I regret that I was too absorbed in my own life interests to include George in my plans. This year, I’m making plans to include some others that might otherwise be forgotten. I want to make sure they know I value them, and bring a smile to their day. People know they are loved when we spend time with them.

I hope this little article encourages you to do the same!
