Ingredients: 2 1/4 c Flour; 1/2 ts Salt; 1 1/4 ts Ground Ginger; 1/2 ts Cinnamon; 1/2 ts Nutmeg; 1 ts Baking Soda; 1/4 c Butter; 1/2 c Brown Sugar; 2 Large Apples; 1/2 c Shortening; 3 tb Sugar; 1 Egg; 1 c Molasses; 1 c Boiling Water

The aim of confession [of sin] then is not to erase consequences, it’s to restore joy. And then the consequences are what they are. Your sins have consequences. They’re rocks thrown in the pond and the ripples go and they touch every shore. But God does promise when you’ve confessed and repented that He will show you lovingkindness and compassion because you are His eternal child… Your justification is settled forever. Don’t cover your sin, confess it. That’s what true Christians do. You’ve been bathed that you need continually to have your feet washed as they get dirty walking in your fallenness. If you don’t confess, you’ll be chastened. If you do confess, you may never be able to change the consequences but because you're God’s child He’ll come to you in compassion and lovingkindness and minister to you.

2 1/4	c	Flour
1/2	ts	Salt
1 1/4	ts	Ground Ginger

1/2	c	Brown Sugar
2		Large Apples
1/2	c	Shortening
3	tb	Sugar
1		Egg
1	c	Molasses
1	c	Boiling Water

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. 2. Sift together flour, spices and baking soda.
3. In a 10 " cast iron skillet, melt the butter. 4. Sprinkle the sugar
evenly over it. 5. Peel and core apples, slice them. 6. Arrange apples,
overlapping on top of sugar. 7. With electric mixer at medium speed, beat
together the
shortening, sugar and the egg until very creamy. 8. Combine the molasses
and the water 9. At low speed add the flour and molasses mix alternating to
the to eggmix. Beat well after each addition. 10.Spoon batter over
apples and bake 45 minutes or until done. 11.Loosen around the edges with
spatula; invert onto plate;
let stand 3-4 minutes, then remove from skillet. 12.Serve warm with soft
ginger icecream.
