Name: Applesauce Cake
Ingredients: 1/2 c Soft Shortening; 1 lg Egg; 2 c Sugar; 1 1/2 c Applesauce; 2 1/2 c Sifted Flour; 1 1/2 ts Baking Soda; 1 1/2 ts Salt; 3/4 ts Cinnamon; 1/2 ts Cloves; 1/2 ts Allspice

INGREDIENTS

1/2	c	Soft Shortening
1	lg	Egg
2	c	Sugar
1 1/2	c	Applesauce
2 1/2	c	Sifted Flour
1 1/2	ts	Baking Soda
1 1/2	ts	Salt
3/4	ts	Cinnamon
1/2	ts	Cloves
1/2	ts	Allspice

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix shortening, sugar and egg.  Add the applesauce.  Mix flour with spices.
Add to applesauce mixture.  Stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts.  Add 1 cup
raisins.  Pour into oblong cake pan.  Bake in a 350&deg;F oven for 45 to 50
minutes.  If you use a square dish bake for 35 to 40 minutes.  If deeper
bake longer.  Test for doneness with a toothpick.  From: Syd's Cookbook.
