INSTRUCTIONS
The recipe is from The Red Star Centennial Bread Sampler.
Oven 400 degrees makes 12 burger buns
In large mixer bowl, combine 1 3/4 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt, mix
well. In saucepan, heat milk, water and margarine until warm (120-130
degrees; margarine does not need to melt). Add to flour mixture. Add egg.
Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 3 minutes at medium speed. By
hand, gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a firm dough. Knead
on floured surface until smooth and elastic, 5 to 8 minutes. Cover with
plastic wrap, then a towel; let rest 20 minutes.
Divide dough into 2 parts. Divide each half into 6 pieces. Shape each piece
into a smooth ball. Place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten to 4-inch
diameter. Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 20 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown. Remove from
cookie sheets; cool, and slice for hamburgers.
