God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
But does not the Old Testament promise that God will prosper the faithful? Indeed! God increases our yield so that by giving we can prove that our yield is not our God. God does not prosper a man’s business so that man can move from a Buick to a BMW. God prospers a business so that hundreds of unreached peoples can be reached with the gospel. He prospers a business so that 20 percent of the world’s population can move a step back from the precipice of starvation.

Today is also St. Joseph.s Day. Celebrated by many as a break from lent,
this holiday started as a Thanksgiving celebration for the end of a drought
in Italy. To celebrate, the rich set out a meatless feast for the poor.
Today, some Italian-American families keep up the custom by inviting
relatives and close friends to the St. Joseph.s Day feast. Since the feast
falls during Lent, no meat is served. A typical meal begins with
"minestrone St. Joseph-style." A "dry" spaghetti, dressed with bread
crumbs, raisins and walnuts, is typical. Several fish courses served
include favorites such as: baccala; smelts deep fried in egg batter and
flour; fried eels; and spaghetti with anchovies.

Beat eggs, salt sugar, oil, and vanilla together and work in the flour and
water alternately keeping the mixture smooth until dough is stiff.
Work more flour into the dough on a baking board, then wrap in waxed paper
and put aside to chill while you make the filling.
Cook chick peas & its liquid 20 minutes. Chop the nuts finely; mix with
remaining ingredients. Drain peas, work through a grinder (use processor or
blender) until smooth. Then mix with filling.
Divide the dough into quarters and roll out one quarter at a time,
very, very thin. Cut dough in 3" squares.
Place a teaspoonful of filling on squares, brush edges with beaten egg and
water. Fold into rectangles, pressing edges with fork to seal.
Heat oil to 350 degrees, fry cavezunes 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until golden.
Drain. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
