Ingredients: 2 c Flour; 1/2 ts Baking soda; 3/4 ts Baking powder; 1 Egg; 1/2 lb Lard; 1/2 c Brown sugar, packed; 1/2 c Sugar; 1/2 ts Almond extract; Blanched whole almonds; 1 Egg yolk (or double amt.)

In John 13 the point was that, if an individual Christian does not show love toward other true Christians, the world has a right to judge that he is not a Christian. Here (in John 17:21) Jesus is stating something else which is much more cutting, much more profound: We cannot expect the world to believe the Father sent the Son, that Jesus' claims are true, and that Christianity is true, unless the world sees some reality of the oneness of true Christians.

INGREDIENTS

2	c	Flour
1/2	ts	Baking soda
3/4	ts	Baking powder
1		Egg
1/2	lb	Lard
1/2	c	Brown sugar, packed

1/2	ts	Almond extract
		Blanched whole almonds
1		Egg yolk (or double amt.)

INSTRUCTIONS

Sift flour with soda and baking powder. Beat egg and lard together. Add
sugars and almond extract. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until well
blended. For each cookie, roll 1 tablespoon dough into ball. Place on
ungreased baking sheets and press 1 almond in middle of each. Brush with
beaten egg yolk and bake at 350F 15 to 20 minutes.
