Firmly packed brown sugar

Eggs; unbeaten
INSTRUCTIONS
BAKE at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes. MAKES 9 x 5-inch loaf. Pour
boiling water over dates and soda. Cool. Sift together flour and salt. Add
nuts, chopped. Blend together the butter and brown sugar or granulated
sugar in mixing bowl. Blend in 2 unbeaten eggs; beat well. Add dry
ingredients alternately with the date mixture, beginning and ending with
dry ingredients. Blend well after each addition. Turn into one 9 x 5 x
3-inch pan or 3 No. 2 cans, well greased on the bottom. Bake in moderate
oven (350 degrees) 60 to 70 minutes. Cool before slicing. *For use with
Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, omit soda and salt.
