Piece unsweetened baking chocolate squares, melted |

Coconut flakes |

Dozen dates |

Dozen walnuts; halved |
INSTRUCTIONS
Cream shortening, sugar; add eggs, vanilla; beat. Sift flour, soda; add
alternately with cream. Divide into thirds. Add chocolate to one; coconut
to second; third, plain. Stuff dates with walnut meats, drop into batter,
coat thoroughly. Bake on a greased sheet in a moderate oven (375 degrees)
for 10 minutes.
