INSTRUCTIONS
This recipe appeared in one of our papers, it sounds interesting but odd.
"This week's recipe is another one adapted from Biba
Caggiano, the Sacramento star whose cooking series I'd love to see back on
the broadcast schedule. It deserves to be re-Discovered"!
"This recipe requires the use of really good balsamic vinegar but then, you
should have some really good balsamic vinegar in your kitchen. Use it
sparingly, and the better it is, the more sparingly you can use it".
"Use a wet paper towel or clean damp cloth to wipe your strawberries clean
(a hint from Mollie Katzen's show). Stem and, if the berries are large,
halve them. If you can find them (or pick them) small but ripe and leave
them unsliced, that makes a much more interesting flavor combination".
"Put the strawberries into a large bowl. Sprinkle with the sugar and toss
gently with a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar. Taste and adjust with a little
more vinegar or sugar if needed".
"Refrigerate for an hour and serve in a chilled glass with slices of
lightly toasted baguette from a really good bakery".
