INSTRUCTIONS
Mash beans with potato masher with 1/2 the fat (bacon drippings or lard
make the best flavor), or be non-traditional (and healthier) and use olive
oil. Heat remaining fat in skillet and sautee onion and garlic until soft,
about 5 minutes. Add mashed beans and continue cooking until fat is
absorbed, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Stir in tomato sauce,
chili powder, and salt and pepper to taste. To cut calories, reduce fat by
up to 1/2.
