INSTRUCTIONS

To jazz up cakes for special occasions, try putting a filling in the
middle--either streusel (brown sugar, cinnamon, coconut with some flour) or
a fruit filling after the cake has been baked. or, try some of the special
recipes on the box.  the golden butter recipe cake mix has a recipe for a
sock it to me cake adding sour cream & pecans that is out of this world. i
also have a recipe for the golden butter recipe cake mix where you add 4
eggs, 1/2 c oil, & 1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges with juice. mix it all
by hand instead of a mixer. bake in two 8" pans. for the frosting, mix
together one 3 oz. pkg of instant vanilla pudding, 8 or 9 oz. cool whip, &
a large can of crushed pineapple (drained) mix together & use to frost
between the two layers & all over the top & sides. refrigerate until
serving.  this cake is delicious & looks fancy, yet is quite easy. hope

We are often told that we limit the atonement of Christ, because we say that Christ has not made satisfaction for all men, or all men would be saved. Now, our reply to this is, that, on the other hand, our opponents limit it: we do not. The Arminians say, Christ died for all men. Ask them what they mean by it. Did Christ die so as to secure the salvation of all men? They say, “No, certainly not.” We ask them the next question: Did Christ die so as to secure the salvation of any man in particular? They answer “No.” They are obliged to admit this, if they are consistent. They say, “No. Christ has died that any man may be saved if” – and then follow certain conditions of salvation. Now, who is it that limits the death of Christ? Why, you. You say that Christ did not die so as infallibly to secure the salvation of anybody. We beg your pardon, when you say we limit Christ’s death; we say, “No, my dear sir, it is you that do it.” We say Christ so died that he infallibly secured the salvation of a multitude that no man can number, who through Christ’s death not only may be saved, but are saved, must be saved and cannot by any possibility run the hazard of being anything but saved. You are welcome to your atonement; you may keep it. We will never renounce ours for the sake of it.

God did not rescue Paul in Asia (2 Cor. 1:8-11) or spare Epaphroditus from death (Phil. 1:27) in order to encourage others to seek a miraculous deliverance from affliction. Rather, these acts of deliverance were intended to encourage Paul and the rest of God's people to endure suffering in their own lives as a profound testimony of God's sufficiency (2 Cor. 1:6; 4:7-12; Phil. 4:6). This side of Christ's return, God does not reveal His power and love in our lives primarily by performing miracles but by enabling us to persevere in the midst of adversity because of our trust in Him. God rescued Paul in the past to teach him to trust God for his future, in order that he might endure in the present.
