INSTRUCTIONS
I created this Italian-Israeli concoction when I had some stale pitot that
I was reluctant to throw out (I can still hear my mother telling me about
the starving children in Europe -- an indication of how old I am), but you
can use fresh pita as well. It is really good. Amounts are according to
taste.
Melt butter or margarine, if used. Mix butter, margarine or oil with garlic
powder and/or minced garlic. Add salt if desired. Brush onto pita halves.
Put on a baking sheet or foil and bake in a hot oven or toaster oven till
browned and crunchy.
Other spices (like basil or oregano) can be added.
