INSTRUCTIONS
Peel, halve and core the pears.
Preheat the oven to 400. Grease the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate or shallow
baking dish with 1 T. of the butter and sprinkle on 1 T. of the brown
sugar. Place the pears in the dish cut side down, and sprinkle on the
cardamom and the remaining 1 T brown sugar. Pour the water into the dish.
Bake 30 minutes, turning the pears twice.
Meanwhile, mix the sour cream with the remaining brown sugar and chill
until ready to serve.
Serve the pears warm or at room temperature, with any remaining syrup
drizzled over them. Top each serving with a few spoonfuls of the sweetened
sour cream.
