INSTRUCTIONS
I found this recipe in "America Cooks", a book published in 1940 and this
is just how it was printed:
(Found in a diary dated 1801)
Into an unbaked lower crust pour the following mixture: cream 2 tablespoons
butter with 1 cup sugar. Add 4 slightly beaten eggs and a dash of salt,
grated rind of 1 orange, and juice of 2 oranges. (The size of eggs and
oranges doesn't seem to make any difference.). When well mixed, fold in 1
cup cream, whipped. Bake 25 minutes in medium oven. Test with knife, a'la
custard.
