INSTRUCTIONS
GRILLED PEARS WITH MINTED HONEY GLAZE B: Veggie Life, May, 1999 S: Makes 4
servings
2 large firm pears 1. Preheat barbecue grill or grill pan to medium-high.
2. Peel and halve pears. Remove cores neatly with a melon bailer or a small
sharp spoon. Leaving stem end intact, cut each pear into thin slices from
base toward stem, so you can fan the slices. Brush pears, including cut
edges, very lightly with oil. 3. Gently fan the pears onto the hot grill,
stem ends toward you. Grill until tender and well marked, about 3 minutes
per side. (Turn pears easily by sliding a large spatula underneath,
starting from the uncut stem end.) 4. In a small howl, combine honey and
mint. Warm slightly (about 10 seconds in microwave), drizzle over pear
fans, and garnish with mint leaves.
