Ingredients: 2 1/4 c All-purpose flour; unbleached; 1 ts Baking powder; 1/2 ts Baking soda; 1/4 ts Salt; 2/3 c Sugar; 1/2 ts Vanilla extract; 3 tb Strong honey; 2 tb Minced zest from 1 orange; 1 tb Dried lavender blossoms; optional

Social ethics must never be substituted for personal ethics. Crusading can easily become a dodge for facing up to one's lack of personal morality. By the same token, even if I am a model of personal righteousness, that does not excuse my participation in social evil. The man who is faithful to his wife while he exercises bigotry toward his neighbor is no better than the adulterer who crusades for social justice. INGREDIENTS

2 1/4	c	All-purpose flour; unbleached
1	ts	Baking powder
1/2	ts	Baking soda
1/4	ts	Salt
2/3	c	Sugar

3	tb	Strong honey
2	tb	Minced zest from 1 orange
1	tb	Dried lavender blossoms; optional

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Sift first 4 ingredients together in a small bowl.
2. Whisk sugar and eggs in a large bowl to a lightly lemon color; sitr in
next 3 (or 4) ingredients. Sift dry ingredients over egg mixture, then fold
in until dough is just combined.
3. Follow steps 3 and 4 in Lemon-Anise Biscotti recipe.
