INSTRUCTIONS
Isn't insomnia great....? Here is a recipe that I made last week and it was
quite good. It got the "Umm, this is tasty" seal of approval from my
husband. I got it from an (old) Monarch Flour Canadian Cook Book
Preheat oven to 350.
In a saucepan melt butter and blend in flour until smooth. Gradually blend
in next 5 ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until
thickened. Stir in ground beef and onions. Cook until meat loses read
colour. Stir beans in until separated.
Turn into 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cover and bake in preheated 350 oven for
20 minutes or until piping hot. Serve with fluffy rice.
Makes 6 servings.
My notes: I modified this somewhat:
I browned the beef first and drained it. Then I proceeded on as directed
and added the already cooked beef and let it simmer until onion softened a
little.
I only had a large package of "French-Style" green beans,so I just added
just over a cup of those.
I don't have an oven, so I put the whole thing in a casserole and put it in
the microwave for 10 minutes, rotating dish and stirring about 3 times
during that time.
