CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Eggs, Dairy 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 c Butter; softened (don't use margerine…spoils the image)
2 c Brown sugar; packed
2 Eggs
2 ts Vanilla
2 1/2 c Flour
1 ts Baking soda
3 c Rolled oats; uncooked
12 oz Chocolate chips (2 cups)
2 tb Butter; additional
1 cn (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a jelly roll pan. In large
mixer bowl, cream the 1 cup butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one and a
time, and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and baking soda,
and mix well. Stir in (by hand) rolled oats. Spread 1/2 to 3/4 of the
mixture into the jelly roll pan, and pat down evenly.
In small heavy saucepan, combine chocolat chips, milk, and 2 tablespoons
butter. Stir over low heat until the chocolate is melted. Pour chocolate
mixture evenly over the oat mixture in the pan. Dot with reserved oat
mixture.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are browned and the center feels
firm. Cool in the pan, then cut into small bars.
***Note: Gosh, these are simple...just my style...and they are soooo rich.
Be sure to cut them into small bars.
Last year I sent these often to the kids at college. They were a continual
request...
For PMS symptoms....bake this recipe. Take them out of the oven and cut
into squares while still warm. Pour a huge glass of milk. Fill a plate up
with the bars, and take bars and milk into the living room. Turn the tv on
to an old Jimmy Stewart movie...any one will do. Watch movie; eat bars;
cry; wipe eyes. Repeat as often as necessary......
