INSTRUCTIONS
In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, seasoning mix, flour and sugar. Stir
in the onion, eggs, garlic powder and 3/4 cup of oil. Mix well and then
stir in water. Add red pepper if desired.
Heat the deep-frying oil in a deep-fat fryer or deep skillet to 350
degrees. Scoop the dough by tablespoonfuls and drop them into the hot oil.
Fry each hush pup for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove them with
a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat until all the dough is
cooked. Serve hot.
