INSTRUCTIONS
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Beat the shortening
until light and creamy, adding the sugar gradually. Add egg and orange
peel and mix well. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the orange
juice. Chill in the refrigerator until the dough is stiff enough to
handle - this will take about an hour or more. Preheat oven to 375F.
Roll the dough out to a 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured board.
Cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter. Place cookies on a cookie sheet and
bake for 8 to 10 minutes or till done. Mix all the frosting
ingredients together until smooth. Frost the cookies and decorate with
a piece of candied orange peel if you have it. Yield: about 5 dozen
