Beat egg whites till stiff, adding sugar gradually; add vanilla and salt.
Fold in nuts and/or chocolate chips, if desired. Drop from teaspoon onto
greased cookie sheet or onto cookie sheet covered with brown paper. Bake at
275 degrees F. for 40 to 60 minutes. They should be dry. Turn off oven and
let cool in oven for another hour then remove from oven. Using a spatula,
remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 3 dozen.
