INSTRUCTIONS
Mix together shortening, sugar, egg, and molasses. Sift remaining
ingredients together and add. Chill dough.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Roll dough into balls about the size of large walnuts. Dip tops in sugar.
Place, sugar side up, 3 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Sprinkle
each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface. Bake
until just set, not hard, about 10-12 minutes.
