INSTRUCTIONS
Combine molasses, sugar, water, and vinegar in a 2 quart saucepan. Cook
and stir until sugar dissolves. Then boil gently until syrup reaches 250
on a candy thermometer. Remove pan from heat, add baking soda, and stir to
mix thoroughly. (Baking soda makes hot syrup bubble up and fizz). Then
pour this hot syrup over popcorn in a large bowl. Mix with spoon until
coats all the corn. While the syrup cools enough to touch, butter your
hands. Or put on plastic gloves so hands won't be burned. Shape corn into
balls. Work fast. Pack them lightly so they are easy to eat. Put popcorn
ball in a plastic sandwich bag. Tie the top shut to keep the popcorn ball
clean and dry.
