INSTRUCTIONS
* pecans or walnuts may be substituted Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Sift
dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) and set aside. In a large pot
combine butter, sugar and water. Remove from heat just before it comes to a
boil. Add half of the chips (1 cup) and the vanilla. Beat with a wooden
spoon until chips are melted and the mixture is smooth. Add eggs one at a
time beating well after each one. Blend in flour mixture about 1/3 cup at a
time. Beat well. Finally mix in the remaining cup of chips and the chopped
nuts. Spread in a 9x9x2 pan and bake 30-35 minutes. Cool completely before
cutting.
